The modern Scandinavian design kitchen

One of the most common requests from customers today is a social kitchen where you can hang out with family and friends while cooking. Emelie and Oliver, whose home we are looking at now, are no exception. They bought their apartment in central Stockholm earlier this year and renovated it thoroughly before moving in.

To help them, they had architect Caroline Molse who helped them to remodel the apartment. One of the major changes they made was to merge two rooms into one large living room with a kitchen, dining room and living room all in one. In this space, they wanted an open, social kitchen that matched the rest of the home.

To light up the room, they chose a beige-gray kitchen with minimalist doors and a white marble, together with a new, light oak parquet. The walls of the room have then been painted in the same color as the kitchen for a calmer impression.

The house was built in 1924 in a typical design at the time. The relatively low ceiling height, the small rooms and a dark floor made Emelie and Oliver experience the apartment as dark and wanted to create more light and space in the kitchen.

Since you can see the kitchen from the rest of the living room, the ambition was that it would have a toned down and sophisticated expression. Many choices have therefore been made to avoid the kitchen looking to messy. For example, all appliances have been hidden behind doors and no handles were placed on the cabinet doors.

To keep the room open and airy. The solution was a wall cabinet high above the sink that gives the room a more spacious expression than if the cabinets had been placed at standard height above the workbench.

After opening the cabinet door, you can pull out elegant drawers in solid white pigmented oak, with custom-made cutlery inserts built entirely to the drawer's dimensions.

All appliances are hidden in a tall cabinet in one of the corners of the room. The cabinet space is utilized optimally because the shelves are extendable - if you want to make coffee, you just pull out the shelf on which the brewer stands and you have an extra workspace.

By peeling off as much as possible and choosing a harmonious color and a calm marble the functional kitchen blends into the rest of the room in a discreet and elegant way.

The faucets are from Tapwell and the stove with built-in bench fan is from Miele. The fridge and freezer to the right of the kitchen counter are opened with a push function thanks to its servo drive.

To match the minimalist doors in beige gray, an Estremoz marble has been chosen. In addition to the worktop, the stone also covers the entire wall behind the sink and the large kitchen island. The wide marble tops make the kitchen feel elegant and the grain of the marble gives the room a harmonious calm.

The goal of the renovation was to create an open and social home. Therefore, two rooms merged and formed the combined kitchen, dining room and living room. Perfect for hosting many guests.

The cabinet to the left of the kitchen counter has pull-out drawers where functions such as air fryer, coffee machine and microwave are hidden. Since the shelves can be pulled out, you can easily and quickly access kitchen functions that are used daily but preferably without being on display.

The couple is most pleased with how nicely the kitchen harmonizes with the rest of the room and the soft, elegant impression. The fact that it also has lots of smart features and plenty of storage is an extra bonus.

In the kitchen island there is an extra sink and faucet. It also comes in handy when there are several people in the kitchen cooking together.

Along one side of the kitchen island there are two bar seats where you can sit and have a quick lunch or breakfast. The side facing the kitchen hides the oven and storage.

The wall behind the sink has been clad with marble, which gives the large room an elegant feeling. A beautiful marble that makes the kitchen feel both luxurious and soothing.
