The Nordic Kitchen at Lotta Klemming

With a sincere love for the sea and a dream of dedicating herself full-time to her passion for oysters, Lotta Klemming left the big city behind and moved back to her hometown of Grebbestad in northern Bohuslän. At her newly opened oyster farm, Ostrongården – a place for lodging and unique experiences, with a stainless steel kitchen reflecting the sea and the rugged Bohuslän cliffs – Lotta is able to live her dream, enjoying the life she desires with her partner and their young daughter.

Lotta's passion for the sea and the Bohuslän's landscape permeates everything she does, from oyster fishing to creating Ostrongården.

After several successful years in the fashion industry, Lotta Klemming realized it was time for something new. Driven by her passion for the sea and oyster diving, she decided to embrace a new lifestyle. Lotta returned to Grebbestad to start a new chapter as Sweden's first (and still only) female oyster diver.

Since 2015, she has been running Klemming Ostron, supplying hand-harvested, wild-caught oysters to restaurants and bars worldwide. As she says, this lifestyle has given her both confidence and pride, while the tough environment of the sea has strengthened her.

Since 2015, Lotta has run Klemming Ostron, where she handpicks wild-caught oysters that are delivered to some of Scandinavia's most prestigious restaurants.

Klemming ostron is located next to the shimmering sea, in Grebbestad, Sweden.

Klemming Ostron offers unique sea-close experiences in northern Bohuslän in Sweden.

In addition to oyster diving, Lotta also offers guests the opportunity to join her on tours, experiencing her work along the rugged West Coast amidst stunning nature, the shimmering sea, and a calming tranquility.

As an extension of her popular experiences, Lotta and her husband, Sander Schimmelpenninck, have opened Ostrongården, located outside Grebbestad in the beautiful Tjurpannan Nature Reserve. The estate enhances the overall experience for all the senses, offering guests first-class local gastronomy complemented by sea-based activities.

Ostrongården provides a place for relaxation and cooking, where guests can enjoy the tranquil surroundings and the simplicity of Nordic design.

The stainless-steel kitchen reflects Lotta's vision—a kitchen that is both durable and beautiful, where the sea and the cliffs are reflected in the choice of materials.

My love for the sea is strong, and I wish to share that love with my guests.

Ostrongården offers guests a homely atmosphere, featuring a kitchen designed for both use and pleasure after a day out on the sea.

The choice of materials is both functional and sustainable, with beautiful details like the oyster terrazzo.

The interior features modern Scandinavian design with retro details, and the large windows bring the surrounding Nordic nature inside. Carpet from Cappelen Dimyr.

For the kitchen at the estate, Lotta envisioned a space that, in addition to durability and functionality, would reflect the stunning landscape of Grebbestad. By incorporating the beautiful, muted tones of the sea and cliffs into its design, she created an atmosphere that evokes the tranquility of Nordic nature.

“Ostrongården’s kitchen should be a space to live and thrive. It’s designed for everyday use, so the choice of materials was crucial to me” – Lotta Klemming.

The result was a stainless steel kitchen from Nordiska Kök featuring a well-planned workspace, innovative hidden storage, and beautiful sea-inspired details. The hood is covered in oyster terrazzo, mirroring the stunning tabletop.

The kitchen is thoughtfully designed, with oyster terrazzo covering the hood made by Herrljunga Terrazzo, and a stainless steel stove from Bertazzoni.

Ostrongården, surrounded by the Nordic nature and inspired by the simplicity of Nordic design.

“It felt natural to incorporate oysters into the house since it’s the material I’m passionate about,” Lotta says and continues, “The choice of materials for the kitchen was intentional—a stainless steel kitchen is durable and ages beautifully, infusing the home with my work and personality. I want my guests to use the house, to use the kitchen, and feel at home after a long day at sea. Maybe they’ll light a fire in the open fireplace while preparing dinner.”

Ostrongården is designed for togetherness, with a large dining table inviting dinners while the fire crackles in the open fireplace.

A place for relaxation surrounded by the beautiful nature.

Lotta has created a place that reflects her passion for sustainable materials and functional design.
