Minimalistic kitchen with kitchen island in marble

Many dream of a large-scale kitchen island in luxurious marble. This generous kitchen island holds a large part of the kitchen's storage and creates a lot of the work space, while being a work of art in itself.

What is most eye-catching about this modern kitchen is the beautiful Arabescato marble that dresses benches, walls and kitchen island. When using a lot of stone, a room can easily be perceived as hard and cold, but in this kitchen, we have created a soft and warm feeling through the kitchen's composition and color scheme.

By placing several upper cabinets in a row, you create an uninterrupted line on which the eye can rest to inspires calm and harmony. The beautiful light that shines through the window creates delicate streaks of light over the Arabescato marble.

The few interior details added to this modern kitchen are subtly elegant and timeless. The two Louis Weisdorfs Multi lite lamps from 1972 have been hung over the kitchen island and the bar stools are from Danish furniture creators Brdr Krüger. The warm grey tone in the stools go perfectly with the kitchen's smooth doors and the legs in light oak can be found in the cabinet interior that is in white pigmented oak.

The kitchen is located in a beautiful apartment in Östermalm, Stockholm, where the home's owners requested a functional kitchen that would feel luxurious and welcoming. The kitchen blend into the rest of the apartment which is decorated in bright warm tones and has saved original details from when the house was built, at the beginning of the last century.

The entire apartment was completely renovated at the same time as the kitchen was built. The calm warm grey tone recurs throughout the apartment. Even the oak parquet has been treated to give it a soft gray color. When you look into the kitchen, it feels more like an extension of the adjoining room than a kitchen as the kitchen is built to create a furniture feeling.

The design is stripped down to focus on only three elements – the elegant marble, exclusive appliances from Gaggenau and symmetrical grey cabinets. When you use only a few elements, you can add as much as you want, without being over the top. Like having the stove and knobs mounted into the marble, which gives a luxurious feel.

The choice fell on a modern frame kitchen with wide drawers and several high cabinets lacquered in a warm greige that warms up the room and lets the beautiful marble shine. By creating symmetrical lines throughout the kitchen, the kitchen feels harmonious and amplifies details such as the structure of the ceiling and the beautiful parquet.

Arabescato marble is one of our most popular stone choices as it is both beautiful and timeless.

To create harmony in the kitchen, the appliances from  Gaggenau were chosen in the color Silver. The wine fridge is also nicely framed in the same material and color as the rest of the kitchen.

The extra wide drawers and high cabinets create a lot of storage in the kitchen, which means that kitchen utensils such as coffee maker and food processor can be put away, but at the same time are easy to access.

The kitchen is located in a large room with only one window. Therefore, we created large areas and a lot of storage in the three different parts that make up the kitchen. At the same time, allowed us to keep the surface around the window completely open to create as much light entry as possible.

Both the kitchen design and the apartment's furniture are perfectly matched with the apartment's preserved turn-of-the-century details. It creates a perfect meeting between modern minimalism and antique elements.

By choosing a beautifully veined marble, you create a lovely organic feeling that adds life to the otherwise modern and minimalistic kitchen. The inside of the cabinets is clad in beautiful light pigmented oak which also creates a natural feel together with the grain in the marble.

The beautiful window frames and cornices really come into their own in this stripped-down and modern kitchen.
