The Wooden Design kitchen
In beautiful Onsala, just outside Gothenburg, Frida Aalvik and her family have recently moved into their newly built, architect-designed house, where the bespoke kitchen in warm oak has made its mark on the rest of the home's interior.

In February 2024, Frida, together with her husband Emil, their son Melker, and their dog Vilda, moved into the newly built house. The interior is characterised by a muted colour palette and natural material choices, and the bespoke kitchen is not only the heart of the house but also what the couple has based the rest of the house's design and decor on.
When we started to build the house, we said we wanted to stick to natural materials and a muted and harmonious colour scheme. Everything in the house is gray like the concrete floor, black details, and dark-stained oak. We actually used the kitchen as our inspiration and chose all the colours based on that.
Frida works with home textiles and has a great interest in interior design. Therefore, it was important for Frida that the kitchen not only focused on function but also had a well-thought-out design. The spacious kitchen has elegant details such as a classic display cabinet filled with beautiful glassware and open shelves where ceramics and vases add a personal touch.
The kitchen's countertop comes from Bricmate and, thanks to the granite ceramic, provides both a beautiful, light tone and a durable and resistant surface.
The reddish-brown tone of the oak kitchen in contrast with the cold concrete floor creates an exciting contrast, while the black details, such as the fittings and lighting, tie the various elements together and create a beautiful whole. Here, the kitchen invites and opens up for the family to be together, a place where they can enjoy their new home.
– The best thing about the kitchen is that it is incredibly spacious and very beautiful. I think the whole kitchen is a nice interior detail, and it sets the tone for the rest of the house, Frida says.
