Scandinavian Farmhouse Kitchen in the 60s villa
Sophisticated and elegant - that is how we would describe the kitchen in the beautiful 60s villa. With slightly narrower frames around the cabinet doors and organic shapes combined with warm natural materials, the classic Shaker style gets a modern and updated expression. A perfect mix of classic farmhouse kitchen and modern yet timeless design.
Through the large window, daylight floods into Martina's 60s villa in Halmstad, Sweden, and the kitchen feels both airy and inviting. The light Shaker kitchen, with its slightly narrower and neat frame around the cabinet doors, feels both elegant and neat, while the timeless Shaker style clearly stands out.
For a more contemporary expression in the kitchen, the classic, elegant style meets straight lines and Scandinavian minimalism, with carefully selected details, just as Martina had envisioned. The combination of light oak and natural stone contributes to the warm feeling, and the rounded corners give the kitchen an updated and modern expression.
The beautiful kitchen island in matte, clear-lacquered oak has rounded corners that create a soft impression. By combining the kitchen island's organic shapes with sleeker doors, a balance in the kitchen style is achieved, and together they contribute to the updated feeling of Scandinavian design.
For Martina, it was important to preserve part of the house's history while combining it with contemporary elements. The choice therefore fell on glass cabinets with reeded glass to capture the era of the 60s villa. The contrast between the smooth doors and the straight lines gives the kitchen a more modern expression.
”I am particularly pleased with the natural, classic feeling in combination with the modern, where hard stone meets soft corners and hidden tall cabinets meet reeded glass,” Martina says.
