1. The kitchen island - A Masterpiece
Like a beautiful piece of jewelry, the kitchen island takes on the role of The Statement piece and becomes the kitchen's brightest shining star in 2024. A kitchen island is both a practical and social component in a kitchen but is now getting a modern lift through careful choices of color, shapes, and materials. The kitchen island can draw inspiration from the existing color palette of the home but also stands out in contrast to the kitchen's palette, shining a bit extra in beautiful dramatic stones.
With dramatic natural stone and beautiful details, the kitchen island becomes even more important. Explore more of this modern design kitchen.

2. The new stainless steel
Stainless steel was one of the major interior design trends in the early 2000s and is now making a long-awaited comeback, but this time in entirely new company. From previously somewhat cold and hard, an exciting contrast is now created with natural materials such as wood and natural stone, softening the cold sensation, and generating a gentle and warm feeling in the kitchen.
The surface can preferably be brushed, and the tone of the steel can also vary. However, combined with the warm character of wood, the steel feels new and exclusive, like a detail that is welcome to stay in our kitchens in the future.

3. Natural light wooden kitchens
Wood is a popular choice and a cornerstone in Scandinavian interior design, thanks to its durable surface and sophisticated expression. The affinity for natural elements persists in 2024 but takes on a predominantly serene form, characterized by lighter wood types. The subdued tones are complemented by contrasting surfaces, stainless steel choices, and darker wood. The result is a sustained Nordic aesthetic but with a softer overall look.

4. The hidden storage
Behind beautiful doors and artisanal woodwork, we now conceal our storage. The result is an airy environment at the border between the kitchen and the living room. At Nordiska Kök, we see this increased demand as a direct parallel to spending more time in our kitchens, both for cooking and socializing. The kitchen is the new living room, and it's the lively room atmosphere that we want to cherish.
If you want to take a step further, you can choose Pocket door cabinets where you can decide whether to display or hide the storage or conceal both adjacent rooms and pantries behind secret doors, creating the illusion of an additional kitchen cabinet that, behind it, hides a hidden entrance.

5. Handcrafted and personal details
We value personality and uniqueness increasingly, and to create a personal expression in the kitchen, details become even more important. Everything from rounded corners and turned legs to more unexpected focal points, such as the inside of a kitchen cabinet.
The more thoughtful the details, the more personalized your kitchen becomes, something that an increasing number of people value during renovations. Tactile texture encounters in carpentry are also on trend, resonating warmly with us at Nordiska Kök.

6. The natural stone
The current enthusiasm for natural materials is growing even stronger in 2024, and an increasing number are thinking long-term in their choices, opting for natural stone. This durable material can enhance the tranquility in the kitchen and evoke our Nordic surroundings through its inherent connection to nature.
Moreover, it can also serve as a strong contrast, creating a unique expression in the kitchen. Natural stone is primarily used for countertops but is now also finding its way up along walls and around kitchen islands.

7. A uniform expression
We observe a strong trend where choices of materials and color palette extend from the kitchen into adjacent rooms, creating a serene red thread throughout the home. The home is our safe haven where we can recharge and unwind. A consistent thread from the kitchen to the bathroom and storage areas brings tranquility; the unified color palette and material choices provide the relaxation we yearn for as the day comes to a close.
