The Interior designer's wooden kitchen
With a keen eye for details and a focus on achieving a harmonious overall design, the Swedish interior designer Gabriella Gullberg has created a home that blends Scandinavian design with eclectic influences, with the kitchen as the focal point. Warm oak combined with stainless steel creates an exciting contrast that aligns with the character of the house.

When interior designer Gabriella Gullberg took on the design of the newly built villa in Sweden, with its open spaces and generous ceiling height, she had a clear vision. She wanted the kitchen to be 'a room within a room'—a natural division that would give the kitchen its own sense of space while still maintaining an open feel.

A dark purple tone, similar to aubergine, is a consistent accent that adds contrast and depth.
"The kitchen is a bit special because it is part of a large social area of 70 square meters. It also includes the dining area and living room. The room is divided by a fireplace, with the living room on one side and the kitchen and dining area on the other. Still, I wanted to create a natural division and a sense that the kitchen was its own room while remaining open," explains Gabriella, continuing:
"I believe I’ve achieved this with the large kitchen island that separates the kitchen from the dining area. The kitchen is also built into the wall towards the hallway, which separates it from the bedrooms, giving the impression that the kitchen is a well-thought-out part of the house from the beginning, rather than something simply placed along a wall."
Beautiful natural materials harmonize, creating a cohesive atmosphere in the home.
The stainless steel kitchen island enhances the airy, open feel while naturally separating the kitchen and dining area.
The color scheme and overall feel were also important to Gabriella, who always strives for a harmonious interior design with personal touches. For this reason, the oak kitchen has been given a warm, mid-brown tone, but together with the stainless steel kitchen island, it creates an exciting contrast that harmonizes with the character of the villa.

"I’m very pleased with the overall feel, how the colors interact with the materials to create a harmonious atmosphere in a welcoming room. The warm red oak pairs perfectly with the stainless steel, creating a warm and inviting feeling along with the warm tones of the walls, stone floors, and plywood ceiling," says Gabriella.
"I also really love the large kitchen island in stainless steel with shelves facing the dining area. You can place cookbooks here or create interesting still lifes that can be endlessly varied."
The walls of the villa have a warm, fairly light tone, while the hallway features a contrasting aubergine hue. Beautiful lamps hang on the walls, enhancing the room’s atmosphere.
"I’m also pleased with the lighting and how it elevates the room, along with the wonderful natural light that pours in through the large glass doors along the house," Gabriella shares.

“This is my eighth kitchen with Nordiska Kök, and there will be more to come.”
When Gabriella takes on new interior design projects, the kitchen is always one of the most important aspects of a renovation.
“The kitchen is often the centerpiece and a room where you spend a lot of time, so it has to be right for the people living there,” Gabriella explains, continuing:
“For this reason, I really appreciate working with Nordiska Kök. They always understand what I’m trying to achieve and are open to new ideas and solutions. This is my eighth kitchen with them, and there will likely be more. All of these eight kitchens have been very different, but in my discussions with Nordiska Kök, there have never been any problems. All ideas are welcome, and there is always a solution somewhere. Nordiska Kök also has an aesthetic I can identify with, which makes the collaboration easier on every level. My own kitchen is also a Nordiska Kök, and I often use it as a reference when talking about kitchens with clients.”
