Step into the farmhouse kitchen in the heart of Österlen
The multi-talented Ellen Dixdotter and her husband live in a beautiful apartment in Fredriksberg in Copenhagen. However, the couple has created a rural oasis in the heart of Österlen. Here is their farmhouse country house that they renovated themselves. The couple comes here to relax, and recharge, and enjoy having family and friends come visit them at their summer dream.

In the house, we have built a classic Shaker kitchen on site, which reflects the rest of the house's lovely rustic feel. Details such as a beautiful site-built display cabinet with antique glass, elegant porcelain sink and a solid oak worktop make the kitchen timeless for generations to come.
The wooden beams in the ceiling and the beautiful wooden flooring have been restored and the warm wooden tones are repeated in the kitchen island and the oak worktops and create a cozy feeling. The light gray kitchen cupboards harmonize with the calmness of the room. The couple has decorated parts of the kitchen with second-hand finds from trips to France. The appliances are from Smeg.
Ellen and Jakob had clear visions about the kitchen and a asked for a kitchen that would last over time. Shaker kitchens are characterized by a timeless style with its lines, solid materials and natural colors, so the style was an obvious choice that also fits in with the rest of the house. Together, we built a sustainable kitchen with choices that felt timeless and durable.
On Pinterest, we have created an entire board with shaker kitchens. Here you will also find the latest inspiration for kitchen renovation and interior design!
