The Designer's Pink Kitchen
In the beautiful city apartment in Södermalm, Stockholm, the interior designer Kelly Redding and her partner Kalle have created a home where pink is the common theme, and the kitchen from Nordiska Kök, in a beautiful warm pink tone, is the beating heart of the apartment.

Overlooking the rooftops of Södermalm in Stockholm, Kelly and Kalle, along with their two children, Bonnie-Isla and Bowie, have created a home that could be described as an elegant splash of pink. Thoughtful details in every room, with the kitchen serving as the centerpiece of the entire apartment.
Throughout the apartment, the couple's keen sense of design is evident in the beautiful material choices.
The pink theme in the interior is also seen in the art on the walls and in the small details.
Kelly, originally from Surrey, England, has a background in interior design, which is evident in the home’s decor. Together with her partner Kalle, she set the theme for their apartment, and it’s clear that pink is at the heart of it. However, having a pink kitchen wasn’t an obvious choice at first.
– We both absolutely love pink, we call it our family colour! We never intended on going as far as putting in a pink kitchen, but after seeing an image on Pinterest, we were sold on it. That’s when the hunt for the perfect pink began, Kelly says.

“For us, a huge plus was the fact that we could choose any color for our kitchen, which not many other companies offer. This was a vital part of our design.”
Once they had decided on a pink kitchen, they were determined to find the “perfect shade.”
– I have followed Nordiska Kök on Instagram for years and have always adored their designs. For us, a huge plus was the fact that we could choose any color for our kitchen, which not many other companies offer. This was a vital part of our design, Kelly explains.
The kitchen, which features a shaker style, fits perfectly with the historical background of the building. The house was built in 1894, and Kelly and Kalle were careful to highlight the building's character through their interior choices.
– I’ve always loved mixing old with new and playing around with colors and textures. The building dates back to 1894, so our goal with the interiors was to honor its history while incorporating a contemporary twist, Kelly says.
The bathroom follows the same design as the rest of the apartment.

Even the kitchen appliances were carefully selected. The sturdy Lofra stove is both modern and period-appropriate, fitting perfectly into the kitchen's character.
– We had a clear vision for the composition and knew that the Lofra cooker should be the focal point, with everything else designed around it. Our kitchen designer at Nordiska Kök seamlessly brought the design together, requiring only a few minor tweaks along the way, which they adjusted quickly each time. Their efficiency made the entire process smooth and stress-free from start to finish. Without a doubt, we would choose Nordiska Kök again for our future kitchen, Kelly says.
