The Painted Oak

Together with our customer we built a linear wooden kitchen inspired by nature. By painting the under cabinets in a dull blue shade that allows the grain of the oak to shine through, the kitchen feels alive and organic. A generous wall section was then site-built in dark stained oak, to create an interesting contrast to the blue.

By painting wood in this way, you get a modern twist in an otherwise classic kitchen, and the light is beautifully reflected in the grain, which brings undulating water to mind. The upper cabinets have smooth doors interspersed with open shelves. This also creates a vibrant feeling that reflects nature's diversity and versatility.

The countertop is an Azul val verde limestone. The cold tone of the stone creates harmony with the cabinet's tones and together with the warm oak this kitchen feels modern. The limestone is also used in the backsplash that is lined with the custom-made wall cabinet that also hides a built-in fan.

The dull blue color and cool limestone bring to mind the sea and barren cliffs.

A kitchen island has been lined with the kitchen, also dressed in the cool limestone. The materials in the kitchen breathe Scandinavian nature and make you think of barren cliffs by the sea. With the warm oak and beautiful grain in the shutters, the kitchen feels warm and inviting despite the sober and cool colors in the kitchen.
