The West Coast design kitchen

In a digitalized world where we all spend multiple hours a day online, the back to nature trend has grown strong in recent years. Many look to create a home where we can ground ourselves and breath. Materials such as stone and wood are therefore in high demand as it creates a feeling of nature as well has being a sustainable choice that will last over time.

The dark Jämtland limestone is inspired by the rugged nature of the west coast that surrounds the house in Hovås Gothenburg.

With that in mind, we built this nature-inspired kitchen on the West Coast of Sweden. The kitchen is built of dark stained wood and black natural stone to reflect the west coast's enchanting barren cliffs. When choosing materials, we did not compromise on either quality or design, which has resulted in a modern and elegant kitchen that is both beautiful to look at, as well as functional.

By dressing both the walls and the fan in dark limestone, the kitchen gets a luxurious feel mixed with stripped-down Belgian wabi sabi.

The contrasts between warm wooden tones and dark natural stone make the kitchen vibrant and inspiring to enter.

The kitchen is tailored to the room for the perfect site-built feel, and the beautiful oak softens the otherwise distinct and powerful impression of the dark limestone that covers the walls and worktops in this kitchen.

The kitchen has a smart floor plan and is well planned to make it easy to cook in groups and move between different stations in the kitchen.

With the beautiful day light in the kitchen, the kitchen is perceived bright and inviting despite the dramatic dark  countertop. In front of one of the kitchen's windows you will find a second sink – a detail that is getting more popular as it creates a dynamic kitchen for cooking in groups.

Next to the refrigerator is a site-built shelf in oak where you can front cookbooks and beautiful ceramics for a personal touch in this otherwise stylish and stripped-down kitchen.

The generous kitchen island has been matched with beautiful lamps from Tom Dixon.

The light flows into the kitchen through two large windows and during the day the kitchen bathes in sunlight that is reflected in the beautiful oak.

Kitchen built in fridge from Gaggenau

The owner of the house often has friends over for dinners and therefore chose an extra wide fridge from Gaggenau.

The house has a luxurious chevron parquet flooring that runs through several rooms, which creates a flow between the kitchen and the rest of the home.

Wine fridge, baking oven and steam oven in kitchen

The kitchen island is, in addition to an extra sink and a wine fridge from Gaggenau, equipped with both a baking oven and a steam oven - this kitchen has really been designed with the joy of cooking in mind!
