Kitchen stories: In the home of @dalagatansthlm
We love visiting our customers´ beautiful homes and in the first episode of our new concept Kitchen stories: we have visited Sofie and Alexander in their beautiful apartment in Vasastan in Stockholm.
After 6 years in London in an apartment with a really small kitchen, Sofie & Alexander dreamed of both larger workspaces and better social spaces. The beautiful apartment from the late 19th century in Vasastan in Stockholm, therefore had to undergo a major renovation.
To maintain the feeling of space in the room, upper cabinets were chosen that are extra shallow with their 25 cm. The cabinet and the kitchen hood are painted in the same color as the wall, which gives a very pleasant expression against the warm oak.
“We love to cook, so durable
materials were important.“
The kitchen island got ribs under the overhang to further break away from the otherwise very smooth and stripped and to create a little more structure. The couple also chose to put in a substantial ceiling chandelier in Murano glass - It feels just right. Grand and classic against the modern minimalist, say Sofie and Alexander.
We have chosen a matte polished, stainless steel sink as countertop and granite for the kitchen island. We fell in love with the Lemon ice granite after visiting Nordiska Kök's showroom. There were a lot of green tones and life in the stone which we thought worked great with the rest of the apartment, the couple says.
We are so happy with how the kitchen turned out, but if we only had to choose one feature that we are the most satisfied with it would have to be the kitchen island. It feels perfectly balanced in both size and placement for the room. We are also very pleased that we chose to have ribs instead of a smooth surface at the overhang, it makes the expression more exciting, Sofie and Alexander says.
When we were waiting to get the keys to the apartment, we spent countless hours searching for inspiration on Instagram, Pinterest and various interior design magazines. We think the mix of Scandinavian minimalism and the Japanese elegance, Japandi, is very beautiful. We also wanted to respect the original details that were in the apartment, so we created the perfect mix that works for us, the couple says.
