Kitchen stories: In the home of @kisuposter
We love visiting our customers beautiful homes and in the third episode of “Kitchen stories” we have visited Krista, her husband Anders and their daughter in their apartment in Kungsholmen, Stockholm.
In this episode we dig into the minimalist and at the same time functional kitchen.
When the family moved into their current apartment, they wanted a minimalist but also functional kitchen that flirted with the original architecture, from when the house was built. The most key of the kitchen design is the contrasts between the dark oak and the white marble worktop.
I have a great fondness for the Mediterranean, Italy and France, so being able to look at my own kitchen and dream away to the Mediterranean is fantastic, Krista says.
For the family, it was important to create a kitchen that felt spacious since it is connected the living room. They therefore decided not to have to many upper kitchen cabinets. Instead maximized storage through a large kitchen island and tall cupboards instead and a tiny upper cupboard where the favorite porcelain is on display.
In the rest of the home, earthy colors dominate but the family decided that the kitchen would have a slightly cooler shade as a contrast to the rest of the apartment in its warmer tone.
The kitchen needed to stand out in its own which was important for us, Krista says.
When looking for inspiration, Krista turns to Instagram as her main source. There she finds lots of inspiration from other homes to apply on her own. She also mentions that traveling is a great source for inspiration, especially Denmark and the capital itself, Copenhagen. The Scandinavian touch does not go unnoticed when stepping into Kristas home.
