Kitchen stories: In the home of @hannahdahlholm

We love visiting our customers beautiful homes and in the fourth episode of “Kitchen stories” we have visited Hannah and Jan in their villa in the idyllic archipelago on the south-east coast of Sweden. In this episode, we get to enjoy the couple's shaker kitchen, which nevertheless could have been found in a beautiful mansion in the French countryside.

Classic details create a feeling that the kitchen has always been in the house.

When Hannah and Jan moved into their villa they dreamed of a kitchen with a rustic feel inspired by the classic French country kitchen. For both of them it was important that the kitchen would be practical but also age beautifully. A little patina over the years is only welcome.

"Since the kitchen is new, our plan from the beginning was to mix it up with older furniture, such as a kitchen table and serving cabinets. That way, we have succeeded in creating the wonderful mix of old and new that we love very much.’’ Hannah says.

‘We’re so happy with how the kitchen turned out, but if we had to choose a few things that it would be how well the appliances blends into the classical shaker cabinets and the sink in porcelain. It’s a real dream kitchen if you ask us.’’

Knobs and handles in brass that age with patina.

They were inspired by Nordiska Kök's classic shaker kitchens, but to maximize storage, they chose to add upper cabinets along the stove. At the sink and the adjacent greenery outside the window area, they wanted to maintain the feeling of great space.

“We thought about having a kitchen island in the middle of the kitchen, but we quickly realized that there is already enough storage in our kitchen. We are therefore looking for an old workbench that will contribute to the feeling of the French country kitchen we admire so much.''

The mix between old and new, creates an exciting contrast.

Doing the dishes is a joy with a beautiful view.

It has always been Hannahs big dream to live in a mansion and therefore the couple have taken a lot of inspiration from typical grand chateau kitchens that you can see in TV series, for example Downton Abbey. They were also inspired by Ellen Dixdotter's farmhouse kitchen.
