The Statement kitchen – A piece of art

Together with the interior design studio AO/JN Interiors we have created "The Statement kitchen". With its minimalist design, rounded corners, the majestic kitchen island and stainless-steel details, the contemporary design kitchen is just as beautiful to look at as it is functional to use.

The Arabescato Corchia marble has a darker grain than classic white marble. The contrasting veining gives the kitchen an elegant touch.

Like all AO/JN Interiors projects, this kitchen shows what an incredible effect well-thought-out design can have. In this large room, which previously was dominated by the tiled stove in one corner, a modern kitchen with an air of Italian, Scandinavian and French interior design now has been built.

“The new kitchen gives the romantic turn-of-the-century room a bold, modern twist.

By combining the minimalist, grey-beige cabinets with marble, stainless-steel and smart design features, a contemporary yet timeless design is created. The new kitchen gives the romantic turn-of-the-century room a bold, modern twist and the choice of materials and well-thought-out finishes, gives the kitchen a youthful touch with a sense of elegancy.

The lines in the kitchen are carefully balanced, the center of the beautiful stone is placed directly above the sink and faucet.

Rounded corners soften the minimalist design, while stainless steel details creates an exciting contrast.

"When setting the new style, we think that the first step should be to look at the existing architecture. Is there something in it that you want to highlight, strengthen, or perhaps suppress? In that case, start from this when you start planning the design of the kitchen.

Usually, you want to highlight a particular detail from the original architecture, but in this case the Art Nouveau inspired stucco was a bit too cute for the client and they wanted something to balance the impression. That's why we chose minimalist cabinets, an expressive marble and stainless-steel details. To tie the two styles together, we let the kitchen "grow out of the wall".

What we wanted to create was a beautiful and expressive kitchen with a slightly raw and youthful feel that would contrast the historic and cute.”, says Alexandra and Jesper who run the interior design studio AO/JN Interiors in Stockholm.

The beautifully maintained Art Nouveau stucco and original tiled stove are matched by rounded corners, a majestic marble kitchen island and stainless steel details.

Between the bench row and upper cabinets there is a so-called shadow-gap, which gives the minimalist kitchen a personal impression.

In this kitchen, it is the beautiful marble that plays the main role. All appliances have been hidden behind cabinets that are painted in a harmonious color – in this way the marble becomes the work of art, framed by the stylish kitchen.

To accentuate the stone, the sides and "ceiling" in the niche framed by the kitchen cabinets were also set in stone. For a more site built feel, the stone has small steps in the outer edges. To tone down the cuteness and create a bolder feeling in the room, a stainless-steel worktop were chosen.
