In a townhouse located in Copenhagen's most popular residential area, Nordiska Kök has designed a kitchen for architect Jeppe Dueholm and his family. Every choice has been made with great respect for the house's history and unique design, drawing inspiration from the beautiful brick façade and the organic staircase that connects the home’s three floors. A durable steel worktop creates a nice intermediate contrast between the sleek cream-colored top cabinets and the gorgeous limestone worktop.
The continuous room features a kitchen in one section and a dining room on the opposite side. The tables and chairs were designed by David Thulstrup and Brdr. Krüger for Noma’s newly opened restaurant. The lamp above the table is a handcrafted piece by Tom Rossau.
Close to Copenhagen's botanical garden along one of the three lakes that connect the city's various districts lies Kartoffelraekkerne, one of northern Europe's most charming residential areas.
The asymmetrical shelves are reminiscent of the architectural design of the neighborhood. It mirrors the layout of the townhouses that vary slightly in size and design; they are unified in style although each one has its own peculiarities to create an overall impression that is creative and artistic.
The Danish architect Jeppe Dueholm has been educated at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen.
The integrated bench with built-in storage beautifully encapsulates the family's vision for the space. It blends into its surroundings so that it is a seamless transition. The bench also adds a great deal to the character of the room and lends itself well to the social center that the space is destined to become.
Above the sink is a simple shelf that has been painted in the same cream-white hue as the walls — it almost looks like it’s floating in the air. Here you can display your most beautiful glassware, crockery or your favorite wines.
The Danish stylist Marie Graunbøl selected the various kitchen accessories to emphasize the space’s personality and tact. Each piece is from a different time and has a unique background but the ensemble is beautifully held together by the unified color scheme in a warm beige-brown.
